Windows 7 vs Windows XP and Vista

Windows 7 installation procedures made easy.

I am going to discuss how to install windows 7 on your computer. Windows 7 can be installed via DVD Disk you have purchased or through bootable USB.

Steps on how to install windows 7 on your computer/laptop

Step 1
First, insert your Windows 7 Boot Disk into your DVD drive and reboot your PC

While the PC is rebooting, you will be prompted” Press any key to boot from CD” Just press any key here (a, b, v, w, q, r, o, enter) After you press a key, windows will load installation files.

Step 2
Windows 7 setup will start automatically

Step 3
Select your language, time and currency format and keyboard input (US) or your preferred language displayed from the options.

Step 4
Click Install Now to proceed, Setup will load for a minute or two, just wait for the loading to be completed.

Step 5
If you do, select I accept the license terms and click Next

Step 6
Caution: If you are upgrading from Windows Vista select Upgrade, if you had Windows XP you have to select Custom (Advanced).

Step 7
Caution: Upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 is not available. Click Custom (Advanced)

Step 8
Select the Partition where you want to install Windows 7 and click Next. You will need at least 5716 mb free space.

Step 9
If you don’t have enough free space to Install Windows 7, you will receive the a warning

Step 10
If that’s the case, you will need to format the partition where you previously had an Operating System installed.

Step 11
Caution:
Formatting a partition will erase all existing data on the partition; proceed only if you have backed up all your files! If you want to format the partition, go to Drive options and format the partition where you want to install windows 7.

Caution: Do this only if you have backed up your documents/files! Click format and then yes

Step 12
Next, Windows 7 Installation will begin. Approximately takes about 30 min to 1 hour to finish, depending on your computer speed.

After half an hour, setup is complete and windows 7 installation is through.

Step 13
Wait for few minutes and your computer will reboot, since the Windows 7 DVD boot disk is still in the drive, the message press any key to boot from DVD will appear. Remember we already done that before, ( see step 2) so these times DO NOT press anything. Wait for 5 to 8 sec and your PC will continue booting and finish installing your operating system.

Step 14
Let the windows will continue booting and installing is almost done!

Step 15
Insert your name (this will be your windows username)

Step 16
If you want to, insert password for your computer. (Caution: Don’t forget your password)

Step 17
Insert your Windows 7 product key and press Next

Step 18
Do you want Microsoft Updates for your new operating system? It is highly recommend you know if you want to update or not! Select use recommended settings.

Time zone; select from the drop down menu. Depending on your location, select the appropriate network location.

Step 19
If you have more than 1 computer, type home group password for sharing files. Make sure to remember it.

Step 20
Windows is finalizing your settings and you’ll see the finish line.

Step 21
Now insert your computer manufacturer drivers CD and install drivers. Windows 7 has great driver support, go to Start –> Control Panel –> Select view by = Small Icons –> Click Windows Update

Step 22
Check for updates and click on optional updates, to see which drivers windows 7 found for your computer automatically.
